Microsoft Word

9/11/2015

I found the handbook on Microsoft Word to be very interesting.  Although I use Word almost every day at work,  I find that I only use the features that I know and that I've been very hesitant to explore the tools available outside of just creating tip sheets for work or writing letters/essays for school.   I have been using Word since the pirate days when we had to steal a copy and load it on to a floppy disk to install shamefully onto our giant desktop computers.
One of the features I use regularly is tracking changes.  As anyone works on a shared document it is nice to be able to leave comments or suggestions without making changes or if changes are made it's nice for people to be able to indicate their reasoning behind those changes.  Since we work in multiple locations it's necessary to send documents via email for contributions/edits so being able to track those changes is beneficial.
Another feature that I'm looking forward to exploring is using the text box options because I have been creating tables and then trying to wiggle them around for years and now I know that I could have simply created a text box in Word.  At times when I needed text boxes I would use Power Point to create them which was effective but involved using more than one of the Office Suite products which seems less efficient.
